Attention All Bargain Shoppers!

30 Jun

ImageIf you are in the Cleveland area TODAY, you MUST go to the City Wide Sale in Lakewood, Ohio. Think of it as a city wide Sidewalk Sale and Yard Sale on steroids; pure bargain bliss!

Check out the links to see all the participants and a handy online map for locations and parking. Lakewood is built on a grid pattern with business, apartments and bus stops (great public transport) on East-West streets, and residences on North-South.

If you get hungry check out the many tasty  eateries. I recommend Melt and my favorite sandwich “The Parmageddon” Mmmmm, smaczny!

So lace up your walking shoes, put the baby in the stroller, grab your shopping trolley, and get ready to snag some bargains in one of the most Walkable Cities & best Front Porch Culture in the region!

How To Make Homemade Laundry Soap – An Easy Recipe

29 Jun

Thanks for your post, NFH 🙂
I have also heard of adding a few drops of flower essence (found at most health food stores) in the wash cycle.

Naturally Frugal Homemaker

Making homemade laundry soap is very easy to do, costs pennies per load and you control the ingredients. I’ve always had good results with my recipes. I use the liquid because I always wash in cold water. The powder works great too and is less trouble to make. Either way I think you will be pleased with the results.

Rinse, Don’t Just Drain

29 Jun

ImageMany people assume that the liquid in canned fruits and vegetables are the natural juices–wrong! They are added water or corn syrup packed with health problem causing sodium and  other preservatives. Take kidney beans for example; that thick liquid–corn syrup! Just think how many calories it would add to your chili if you did not drain and rinse it. Remember, healthy habits help keep you financially healthy by reducing doctor visits, sick days, medications, and improved quality of life—which is priceless!

FREE Pet Meds!

28 Jun

ImageYou may be aware of free prescription drugs offered at many pharmacies, but did you know your fury family member can also benefit? All you need is a prescription from your vet.

You can also take advantage of competitive pricing on generic and brand name drugs; simply shop around for the best “cash price” the same way you would for your own meds. Do some research online and talk to your vet to determine which human meds would work and if generic would be appropriate.

Some common human drugs for pets include:

  • Anti-depressant/anti-anxiety
  • Acid reducers
  • Seizure
  • Antibiotics
  • Muscle relaxants
  • Pain
